My Background

Born in culture-rich Alert Bay BC, I was surrounded by the beauty of the land and groomed by the strong teachings of my grandparents. My love for my culture has never faded and my desire to be artistically creative continually evolves. As a recent graduate with a Master of Fine Arts, I explore innovative ways in connecting and expressing my research through my works.

My Mediums

I use many different mediums, such as wood, acrylics, gouache, canvas, glass, and metals. My studies began with learning from several master craftsmen in multiple mediums which lead to my 25 years of accumulated work experience. I believe in continually exploring and challenging myself with my traditional techniques and contemporary art-making.

My Inspiration

Growing up, I observed and discussed the traditional art forms with my grandfather. Through my grandparents, I learned about the values of life and culture, responsibilities of being a chief, and the importance of being a strong leader for my people. In addition, I am passionate about being a father, a partner, and being involved in the well-being of my community and Mother Earth.
